An Auckland dairy owner has been left shaken after four young men stormed into her shop armed with weapons on Wednesday morning.

The incident took place at 8.20am at the Arthur St dairy in the south central suburb of Onehunga.

Video footage illustrates the terrifying moment the armed robbers raided the store.

Arthur St dairy owner Khatija Chhiboo is in shock after armed robbers targeted her Onehunga dairy.

Owner Khatija Chhiboo can be seen running out from the back of the shop and out the front door.

The men took off with cigarettes, cash and lollies.

Speaking through her son Muneer Chhiboo she said she felt shocked, frightened and feared for her life.

“I ran from the shop because I knew if I stayed they would attack me.”

Chhiboo has run the business for the past 20 years. For the first 15 years they never had any robberies.

“In the past five years we’ve been robbed at least four or five times,” she said.

Her two sons often stand outside at night – as well as during quiet periods during the day – to keep an eye out for suspicious activity.

“I am very worried about being assaulted because it seems to be becoming more and more common.”

Chhiboo said they are lucky the community is being supportive.

“Lots of the locals have come to see us since this happened.”

A police spokesperson confirmed they attended the scene of the robbery and were in the early stages of their investigation.
